Memory Stamps

My first husband 1973 T shirt detail

Objects and possessions are touch stones to memories and experiences. Elements of these possessions can sometimes be all that is needed; a smell or a sound or a picture can still take you to that place or remind you of that person.

I decided that I needed to reduce what I unconsciously owned, so I started photographing items that I subsequently took to charity shops. The resulting work are images within a stamp frame to give them an importance. They are named with the words of diary entries and this information plus the visual keeps them as strong elements of my memory and my life. I remember the process of considering no longer having the objects. I can see them where they last were in my life. Each stamp is a long walk back to the time and space of the possessions.
